When a powerful ice storm caused widespread and prolonged outages for this large power distributor, the public expected up-to-the-minute information about when power would be restored. Veridian’s website had no built-in mechanisms to keep its customers informed and their inability to provide helpful information during a time of crisis was damaging the company’s brand.
Floating-Point created an interactive power outage map as part of a website redesign that enables users to find live reports on the status of restoration efforts in their specific locations. The new site is mobile responsive, encouraging customers to access Veridian’s website anytime, from any location, using their smartphones and tablets. An embedded Twitter feed was also employed to improve proactive communications with customers in real-time.
